Fun Games to Play in Line at Magic Kingdom (Free Ride Generator + Scavenger Hunt)

Hi, I'm Alan Eskelsen, an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner with Fun Park Go, and a dad who loves taking my kids to Walt Disney World. If you've ever stood in a 60-minute line with tired kids, you know that the wait can make or break the day. So I made something to help: a free dice game you can play on your phone right in line. It picks your next ride, a character to meet, a snack to try or a fun challenge.

Below you'll find the game, a Magic Kingdom photo scavenger hunt, hidden Mickeys to look for, and my favorite games to play in line at Disney World, with and without a phone.

How to play

  1. Pick a category: Ride, Character, Snack, Challenge, or Surprise me if you're feeling brave.
  2. Tap the die. It rolls and gives you a result card with the land it's in and a quick tip.
  3. Don't like it? Re-roll. Turn on No repeats so you won't get the same thing twice in one day.

We use it a few ways. Roll for "the next ride" when everyone is arguing, let the youngest roll for a snack after lunch, or roll a Challenge while you wait. It's an unofficial fan game, and Disney changes things often, so always check the My Disney Experience app before you walk across the park.

Magic Kingdom Photo Scavenger Hunt

A Magic Kingdom scavenger hunt is one of the easiest ways to keep kids busy, and it gives you great photos. Screenshot or print this list, then check items off as you go. The first person to get 10 wins a treat.

  1. A photo with Cinderella Castle (try the middle of Main Street)
  2. The Main Street train pulling into the station
  3. A Main Street window with someone's name painted on it
  4. Your family in Mickey ears
  5. The Liberty Bell replica in Liberty Square
  6. The hitchhiking ghosts at the Haunted Mansion exit
  7. A snack being held up next to its land's sign
  8. The spinning teacups at the Mad Tea Party
  9. The lanterns near Rapunzel's tower in Fantasyland
  10. A Cast Member giving a high five (ask first!)
  11. Big Thunder Mountain from Frontierland
  12. The dog holding the keys in Pirates of the Caribbean (no flash, just look!)
  13. TRON's canopy glowing after dark
  14. Someone wearing a celebration button (grab yours free at City Hall)
  15. The castle lit up at night

Printable version for kids: For little ones, cut the list down to 5 items with pictures, like the castle, a train, a teacup, a churro and a character. A finished sheet plus a sticker at the end is a big win.

Hidden Mickeys to Look for at Magic Kingdom

Imagineers hide the classic three-circle Mickey shape all over the park. These well-known hidden Mickeys at Magic Kingdom are easy for kids to spot:

  • Haunted Mansion ballroom: look at the dinner table. A plate and two saucers make a Mickey.
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: keep an eye out for gears and rocks arranged in a Mickey shape around the queue and ride.
  • Cinderella Castle and Main Street: look closely at railings, light fixtures and decorations. Mickey shapes show up in lots of the details.

Ask a Cast Member for a hint, too. Many of them love sharing their favorites, and it turns into a fun little hunt that works for any Disney World scavenger hunt.

Other Games to Play in Line at Disney World

Phone batteries run out, so these games need no phone at all.

For kids

  • Disney I Spy: "I spy something purple in this queue."
  • Guess the character: one person acts out a character and everyone guesses.
  • Count it: count Mickey ears, strollers or balloons until you reach the front.
  • Hum that song: hum a Disney song and see who can name it first.

For adults and teens

  • Disney trivia: take turns asking questions. Bonus points for ride facts.
  • Wait-time guessing: everyone guesses the real wait, and the closest gets to pick the next snack.
  • Rank it: rank your top five rides, snacks or villains and defend your picks.
  • Twenty questions, Disney edition: think of a character, ride or movie.

Phone games

Park Dice above works great on a phone, and the My Disney Experience app has its own in-queue games for some rides. Just save some battery for Lightning Lane and photos.

Tips for Using Park Dice with the My Disney Experience App

  • Check wait times before you walk. If your roll lands on a ride with a long wait, re-roll or save it for later.
  • Roll by land. If you're already in Fantasyland, keep re-rolling until you get something close by. It saves a lot of walking.
  • Use Lightning Lane for the big ones. Rolled Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or TRON? Those need a plan. Our Disney World tips and tricks post covers it, and for solo riders see our single rider line guide.
  • Character spots change. The app lists today's meet-and-greet times, so check there before you go looking.
  • Turn on No repeats on long days so everyone gets something new.
