We are going to tell you everything you need to know about how to get discount Disneyland tickets.
Did you know Disneyland has about 44,000 visitors a day? People from all over the world come to visit the iconic park and while family vacations are fun, they can also be expensive.
It can be hard to enjoy your trip if you’re constantly thinking about how much money you’re spending.
Time of the Year
If you have the option to be flexible with your vacation, that is going to be an easy way to save money. The summer months and the holidays tend to be more expensive and busy.
You’ll see a spike in ticket prices around Christmas and the Fourth of July. You’ll have better luck getting Disneyland tickets cheaper if you choose to go in the off-season and on weekdays when a lot of California residents are working.
January, February and September tend to be the least busy times of the year, so keep that in mind too. The time of year you buy discount Disneyland tickets matters. Disney will sometimes run specials around the holidays, such as Black Friday. Be on the lookout for other specials around other holidays.
Park Hopper
If you’re looking for a good deal, consider purchasing a park hopper pass. Buying discount Disneyland tickets can be done by doing one park per day or having access to both Disneyland Resort and Disney California Adventure Park with the park hopper pass. To save time and money go with the park hopper Genie+ tickets.
This will give you and your family the opportunity to visit both parks on the same day. They are a short distance from each other so you’ll be able to walk between the two.
However, if you want to spend a whole day exploring each park, you should consider the 1-Park Per Day ticket. This will ensure you don’t have to rush through each park and you’ll get to see everything you want. If you aren’t sure which one you want to do, you can talk to a Disneyland employee about upgrading once you get there.
Resident Tickets
If you live in California, you can get a residence discount. However, there may be restrictions on which days you can attend.
Combos
If you’re planning on being in town for a few days, Universal Studios Hollywood is close to Disneyland. You can purchase a combo deal and save some money and extend your trip. Knott’s Berry Farm is also about a 20-minute drive from Disneyland and you can pair those together, too.
Hotel Packages
Disneyland also partnered with nearby hotels and you can buy a bundle deal. This is a beneficial option as many of the hotels like the Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel will offer complimentary shuttles to the park.
Not only will that save you gas money, but also time. Parking in the park can take a while because so many people are trying to get in.
Parking can also be expensive, and if you’re going to the park multiple days parking fees can add up. You’ll be able to get the full Disneyland experience and save money, but purchasing your hotel and ticket together.
Military and Senior Discount
At this time, Disneyland does offer discount tickets to Disneyland to military personnel. Be sure to check the dates, this deal may not always be available or there could be blackout dates. There isn’t a discount offered for seniors or AARP members.
If your older parents or grandparents want to come just to watch you and your children, they will still have to pay full price. Even if they don’t ride the rides or participate in the other activities.
Credit Cards
Before booking your tickets, be sure to look at your credit card rewards. Many companies have partnered with Disney and you might be able to use your points to save.
If you’re planning on visiting frequently you should get a Disneyland credit card. There are two options so you’ll be able to pick the best one for you.
There is a reward once you sign up and you’ll get many perks and could save hundreds of dollars. This option is great if you live close to the park or travel there often.
Student, Teacher, and Group Discount
If you’re a student check with your college or university. They might have tickets available that are slightly less expensive.
There is a program called the Disney Imagination Campus Program that allows students from ages 3 to 22 to see behind the scenes and have a day at the park. It is meant to be an educational experience and parents and chaperones can get discounted tickets for the day too.
While the park-specific doesn’t offer discount Disneyland tickets to teachers similar to students, you can reach out to your county. There are also group discounts available for those who work for non-profits. Your group must be at least 15 people and you’ll have to call the park to get the tickets.
Talk to a Travel Agent
One of the best ways to find where to get discount Disneyland tickets is by talking to a travel agent. An experienced agent will have booked many trips and know where to find the best deals and tickets. This will ease a lot of your stress and you won’t have to worry about wasting money or missing a discount.
AAA Members
If you’re an AAA member, you can get discount Disneyland tickets on multiple-day passes. While the discount won’t apply to a single-day pass, the discount might be worth a 2, 3, 4, or 5-day pass.
Keep in mind you won’t be able to stack to combine discounts. If you’re a AAA member and a teacher, you’ll only get a discount for one.
Magic Morning
If you’re looking to spend a little more time at Disneyland consider adding Magic Morning to your pass. This is available only on specific days of the week and is only an option for those who have a 3, 4, or 5-day pass.
You’ll be allowed in the park an extra early than everyone else. You’ll be able to take advantage of the short lines and experience the park before everyone else.
If you stay at a Disney resort and have a ticker, you’ll also have the opportunity to enter an hour early as well. This is only on the days that it’s offered.
Maximize Your Time
Once you have your discounted ticket, you’re going to want to get your money’s worth. To get the full experience, you’re going to want to arrive early. You probably don’t want to spend your time waiting in line if at all possible. The shortest security lines are going to be in the morning when the parks open and that is also true for the rides.
Downloading the app is also a great way to save time. It will tell you the line wait times and you’ll be able to order your food, another line that can get really long as the day goes on.
Lastly, consider looking at the map and guide before you get there. This way you’ll know exactly where you want to go and won’t waste your time looking around.
Things to Look For
You don’t want to get to the line and have the employee tell you that the ticket isn’t valid. While you may think this doesn’t happen, it does. People are always searching for the best price and unfortunately, there are people who take advantage of that.
Before buying your discount Disneyland tickets, be sure the company and website are legitimate. There are many scammers out there, which is another reason to talk to a travel agent.
Be sure you don’t purchase a partially used ticket. When you enter the Disney park they take a photo of you that is connected to your ticket. You won’t be permitted in if you use someone else’s multi-day pass that they are using.
Single-day passes aren’t usually discounted unless you’re military or a resident. There are exceptions to this, such as students and teachers.
While there are a number of different ways to save on tickets, typically they won’t be more than 10%. If someone is offering you an extremely discounted ticket, be sure to do your due diligence and check if it’s valid.
