Disney announced Typhoon Lagoon reopens January 27, 2027. Here's what it means for your trip, the $89 water park seasonal pass, blockout dates and tips.
Typhoon Lagoon Reopening Date Announced: January 27, 2027

Good news for anyone planning a Disney World trip this winter or spring: Disney has announced that Typhoon Lagoon reopens on January 27, 2027.

Typhoon Lagoon has been closed for refurbishment since September 9, 2026, and until now Disney hadn't given a date. I've had families asking me about it for weeks, so here's what the announcement means for your plans.

When Does Typhoon Lagoon Reopen?

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park reopens Wednesday, January 27, 2027. Blizzard Beach is open now and is scheduled to welcome guests until January 26, 2027, so the handoff is basically seamless: one Disney water park stays open the whole season.

That's typical for Disney. They rotate the two water parks so one is open while the other gets its refurbishment. If your trip is in early January, plan on Blizzard Beach. If you arrive January 27 or later, it's Typhoon Lagoon's turn. I'd still check Disney's park calendar about six weeks before you go, because water park hours and closures can shift with weather.

What's Back at Typhoon Lagoon

Disney is highlighting the favorites:

  • Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, North America's largest wave pool
  • Crush 'n' Gusher, the water coaster with rushing water, twists and drops
  • Castaway Creek, the lazy river that loops the park
  • Ketchakiddee Creek, the kids' splash area

Disney hasn't announced any brand-new attractions with the reopening, so think of it as a refreshed version of the park you already know. My kids always head straight to the wave pool, and honestly, I do too.

Disney Water Park Seasonal Pass Prices

Along with the date, Disney is promoting the Disney Water Park Seasonal Pass:

  • $89 plus tax for ages 10 and older
  • $83 plus tax for ages 3 to 9
  • Valid now through May 15, 2027
  • Blockout dates: February 19-21 and March 20-28, 2027

You can use it at Blizzard Beach now and at Typhoon Lagoon once it reopens. Passholders also get one round of mini golf (before 4 p.m., on one date) at Winter Summerland or Fantasia Gardens, plus 20% off same-day Polar Patio and Beachcomber Shack rentals, booked in person at the water park.

Is it worth it? A 1-day water park ticket is about $79 for ages 10 and up. If there's any chance you'll go twice, the seasonal pass pays for itself. Watch those March blockout dates, though. They land right on a lot of spring breaks. I break down every ticket option in my full Typhoon Lagoon tickets guide.

What This Means for Your Trip

Winter trips (January-February): Central Florida can be chilly in January. Typhoon Lagoon's pools are heated, but on a 60-degree day it's still a hard sell for some kids. Keep a water park day flexible and use it on the warmest day of your trip.

Spring break 2027: This is where the reopening really helps. Typhoon Lagoon will be fresh off its refurbishment for spring trips. If your dates fall in the March 20-28 blockout, buy regular tickets or a water park add-on instead of the seasonal pass.

Park Hopper Plus: If you're already getting theme park tickets, the Park Hopper Plus option includes water park visits. For a longer trip that's often the easiest way to fit in a Typhoon Lagoon day. It's one of the money savers I cover in Disney on a budget.

Where to stay: Typhoon Lagoon is right next to Disney Springs and a short ride from the Disney resorts. Several resort pools are basically mini water parks too. If you're comparing hotels, see the All-Star Sports pools and my Art of Animation review.

Typhoon Lagoon Tips

  • Rope drop it. Arrive before opening and head to Crush 'n' Gusher first, or grab a spot at the wave pool. Here's what rope drop at Typhoon Lagoon looks like on my Fun Park Go YouTube channel.
  • Pack water shoes and sunscreen, even in winter. The Florida sun is still strong.
  • Reserve a cabana or shack early if your group wants shade. Seasonal Passholders save 20% on same-day rentals.
  • Bring a refillable bottle. Quick-service locations will give you free ice water.
