How do travel agents get Disney resort discounts? A Disney agent since 2010 explains how offers fit your room, package vs room deals and adding them after booking.
How Do Travel Agents Get Disney Resort Discounts? How It Really Works

A lot of families think travel agents have a back door to cheaper Disney rooms. We don't. But we do know how Disney's resort discounts work, and that's what gets you the savings.

I've been a Disney travel agent since 2010. Here's how a resort discount actually ends up on your reservation, from my side of the desk.

Some links in this post are affiliate links. If you book through them, Fun Park Go may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

How do travel agents get Disney resort discounts?

The same way you would. When I book with Disney, I see Disney's public prices and Disney's offers. The difference is that I'm watching for them. Travel agents get notified when Disney puts out new sales and discounts, so I don't have to go hunting.

Then it's my job to match the offer to your trip. That part is where most of the savings come from.

If you want the short answer on whether agents have secret deals, I covered that in Can a travel agent get me Disney discounts? This post is about how the discounts work once they're out.

Why doesn't every Disney resort discount apply to my room?

Because Disney's offers are picky. An offer might cover one resort but not another. It might cover standard rooms but not certain villas. And it might only cover certain nights.

For example, the Disney Visa Cardmember offer for early 2027 leaves out Disney's Pop Century Resort and several villa types, and it can't be combined with other discounts (Disney Visa Card offer terms). Disney also limits how many rooms get each offer.

So when I price your trip, I'm not just asking "is there a deal?" I'm asking which deal fits your resort, your room and your dates. Sometimes a small change, like a different resort or moving a night, makes a bigger difference than you'd think. I'll always show you the trade-off before we change anything. Your room type is locked in when you book. A specific room location, like close to the pool, is still only a request.

What's the difference between a room-only and a package discount?

Some Disney offers are for rooms. Some are only for packages, meaning your hotel and park tickets booked together.

Right now Disney has both kinds out for 2027 (The Walt Disney Company):

  • A package offer: up to $250 per night off select 4-night, 4-day room-and-ticket packages, select nights January 3 through July 28, 2027.
  • A room offer: up to 25% off select rooms, select nights January 3 through April 29, 2027.

Which one saves you more depends on your trip. I usually recommend bundling your Disney hotel and tickets. In my experience that's where most families save the most, and it lets me set up a payment plan on the package. Here's how Disney payment plans work.

Can a Disney discount be added after I book?

Sometimes. Disney lets guests apply a new special offer to a reservation they already have, as long as it's available. If you booked with a travel agent, your agent is the one who calls Disney to apply it (planDisney).

We always look for deals after a trip is booked. But I work with a lot of families, so here's what I ask: if you see a new offer, contact us right away. Offers have limited rooms, and they can run out. Depending on your booking and Disney's terms, we may or may not be able to change the price.

I shared a real price-check story in Does using a Disney travel agent save money? That one was a cruise, but it's the same idea. Someone is watching your trip for you.

Do travel agents get special rates on Disney hotels?

Disney does have a special travel agent rate. It's for the agent's own vacation, not for clients. Disney's form says it covers the agent and their immediate family in the same room, for up to seven nights, with one arrival date a year (Disney Special Travel Agent Rate form).

So if someone tells you their agent got them the "agent rate," I'd be careful. What you really get from an agent is help landing Disney's public offers. If you're curious about the agent side, here's how to become an agent with Fun Park Go.

Can big groups get Disney resort discounts?

Groups are some of my favorite trips. They're also the most time consuming. The hard part usually isn't the booking. It's getting everyone on the same page.

Disney has a Group Reservations team for bookings of 10 rooms or more (Walt Disney World press site). Depending on the size of your group, I can work with Disney's group specialists and pass along any savings or group benefits that are available. Smaller groups are usually booked as regular reservations, and they can use the same public offers as everyone else.

When are Disney resort discounts the best?

For me and my family, we always like to go in January and February or September and October. Those are usually the best times for crowds, and the prices are some of the best too. Several of the 2027 offers above land in those early months. I break down the calendar in the cheapest time to go to Disney World in 2027.

The other thing that helps is booking early. If you book for the next day or two, resort prices are usually higher. Book ahead, then let me keep an eye out for new offers.

Not sure where to stay? My guide to places to stay at Disney World walks through the resorts. I recommend a Disney resort for most families.

Frequently asked questions

Do travel agents get discounts on Disney hotels for their clients?

No special client-only ones. You get Disney's public prices and offers. I make sure you get the ones that fit your trip.

Can you stack Disney resort discounts?

Usually not. Most Disney room offers can't be combined with other discounts, so it's about picking the best one.

Will Disney automatically lower my price if a new offer comes out?

No. Someone has to ask for it, and it has to be available for your booking. If you booked with me, contact us when you see a new offer and I'll check.

Is it cheaper to book Disney through a travel agent?

It's generally the same price as booking with Disney, and my help is free. Here's how much a Disney travel agent costs.

Do Disney resort discounts work for groups?

Yes, groups can use Disney's public offers. If you need 10 rooms or more, Disney has a separate Group Reservations team.
