One of the first things families ask me after they book is, "Can you get our dining reservations for us?" They've heard travel agents have a secret door. We don't. Nobody does.
I'm a College of Disney Knowledge graduate and I've been a Disney agent since 2010. I'm also working on my Authorized Disney Vacation Planner status right now. Here's the honest answer on dining, and how we help you get the tables you want.
Some links in this post are affiliate links. If you book through them, Fun Park Go may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Yes, a travel agent can. Disney's own My Disney Experience terms let an agent make dining reservations for a client who's connected to them through Family & Friends, as long as the client gave permission. The agent also has to explain the charges and rules, like the credit card guarantee (My Disney Experience Legal Terms).
Here's what that doesn't mean:
At Fun Park Go, dining reservations are done through the app. We don't log into your My Disney Experience account. We guide you through it so you know exactly what to tap on your booking morning, and so you can change things yourself later.
Short answer: no, and that's okay. Everyone books on the same 60-day window, whether you use an agent or not. If you're staying at a Disney resort, you get to book your whole stay, up to 10 nights, on that first morning.
Where I help is getting you ready. I've been doing this since 2010, so I know which meals your family will want, which ones go fast, and what to have lined up before that morning comes. When your window opens, you're not guessing. You already have your list, your backups and your app set up, and you just start booking.
Dining reservations open 60 days ahead. If you're staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you can book 60 days before you arrive for your whole stay, up to 10 nights (Walt Disney World dining FAQ). That's a big reason I push Disney resorts. You get to book your last night's dinner on the same morning as your first.
For the full rundown on restaurants and the booking calendar, see our Disney dining reservations complete guide. This post is about what an agent can and can't do.
Mostly by getting you ready before your morning comes. Here's what I tell every family:
I covered the rest of the timeline in how long it takes to plan a Disney vacation, and everything we handle in what's included in our planning services.
Some agents will ask for it. You don't have to give it to anyone. Disney's terms set up Family & Friends as the way an agent connects with a client for dining, and booking it yourself is easy once you know the steps.
We don't log into client accounts. We walk you through the app instead. Your account, your card, your control.
Don't give up on it. Here's what I tell families:
It depends on your family. We can add a Disney Dining Plan to your package, and we'll help you decide whether it fits how you eat. The plan doesn't book tables for you, though. You still make reservations in the app. We can also help with birthday and anniversary touches.
If you like to compare package prices, Get Away Today sells Disney vacation packages. Use promo code FunParkGo for $10 off a package.
No. Everyone books on the same window. What we bring is knowing the steps, the timing and good backups.
Not yet. I'm working on my Authorized status. I'm a College of Disney Knowledge graduate, a Disney agent since 2010, and I've completed Universal's training.
Most restaurants charge $10 per person if you cancel within 2 hours or don't show up. Some, like Cinderella's Royal Table, charge more or need more notice (Disney cancellation FAQ).
No. Our planning help is free, and your trip costs the same as booking with Disney. Here's what a Disney travel agent actually does.
You can book with us, direct with Disney, or through Get Away Today with code FunParkGo for $10 off a package.
